We hired Christian Wilner Skorstensfejeri AB for chimney sweeping and asked him to talk to our carpenter about fire protection when installing brick logs while he was on site. No information was given that this would cost extra, we were later invoiced 2,000 SEK for “advice”. On site he claimed that we had a lot of tar in the canal and tried to sell logs. When I said we could buy them in store he claimed that he sold them at cost price. It turned out that he sold them for about 75% more than in store. A subsequent check via the Greater Gothenburg Fire Service showed that we did not have too much tar. The invoices are being sold on, which makes it impossible to have a dialogue or get responsibility. I have also spoken to several people in the industry who all know him and advise against hiring him. I experience this as misleading sales and a very unserious act. Strongly advise against.

Hired Christian for advice on a fireplace that had been out of use. Definitely very knowledgeable in his profession, which we really appreciate. We are very happy with the cassette that was recommended, perfect for our stove. We did some administrative work ourselves but Christian handled everything else smoothly and quickly. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend anyone to hire Christian Wilner Skorstensfejeri AB. They initially seemed nice and professional and we hired them to first inspect our ducts, their condition and see if they could be used to install a range hood, narrow stove and insert stove. They thought this was doable and suggested that we should slip-cast or put a hose in the ducts and gave us a quote for this and to tear down our fireplace and all the Mexican bricks around the chimney to best see how an insert stove of the type we had in mind would best be placed. We thought the quote was on the high side but perhaps still reasonable. We agreed to go ahead. Then things got messy. Christian Wilner Skorstensfejeri AB made very hasty decisions and had to redo things that were not done correctly. Suddenly we received a reminder via a debt collection agency for an invoice that was almost twice as high (about 108kr) as the quoted amount and they also wanted to pay in black for parts of the work in addition to this. We disputed their demands and only paid the quoted amount. The most dangerous thing was that they left our chimney hood lying loose on the roof, so it blew down. It could have landed on our children. A colleague also injured his thumb quite badly during the work because they did not use gloves when they were working with sharp metal sheets on the roof. After doing some proper research, both online and by talking to others in the industry, it turns out that Christian Wilner Skorstensfejeri AB does not have the best reputation. They seem to have a history of complicated and sometimes dangerous cases behind them. And an hourly rate that is almost double that of other installers. Our advice is to absolutely hire someone else.

Do not go to this company, you are probably already assigned someone to inspect your chimney at regular intervals in your area. We live in Gothenburg and had the work done by Christian, but what he did not say was that he filmed the ducts and then charged more than 3 times the price that our assigned chimney sweep does. In addition, we had to sweep again immediately afterwards with our assigned chimney sweep.
